Are you thinking of having an engagement photo shoot? For many couples, the excitement and exhilaration of wedding planning begins the moment the question is popped! There is plenty to think about and lots to be arranged!

Now that you’ve said yes, it is worth thinking about capturing the passion and excitement of a special time with an engagement photography session!

These engagement sessions are such a great way to help couples remember the moment – but they are also very useful for other reasons too.

1. Getting to know your photographer

An engagement shoot is the perfect way to get used to being comfortable around your photographer. That way on your wedding day, you’ll feel relaxed and carefree—and isn’t that the way it should be?

2. Understanding the right poses using the engagement photo shoot

During your engagement session, you will learn how your photographer works to set the scene for your images. As they will want to capture you at your most natural, much of the “posing” is more instruction about interacting with each other. I would rather photograph the natural reactions and situations by having couples interacting with each other whilst we being able to have a chat and a laugh with me. That will bring out the best in all of us!

3. Better wedding images

As wedding photography is an investment and because the finished product won’t be ready after well after your big day, it is a good idea to book an engagement photo shoot session. In this way it reduces the risk and stress and helps you to understand not only how the photographer works but also what their style is and the type of imagery they create.

4. For use on wedding stationery

And, of course, engagement sessions are great for getting photos for your save the dates, sign-in books or as framed displays at your reception—and they’re a beautiful reminder of the time before you were married. A few of my couples have had one of their engagement photographs mounted and asked their guests to sign the mount around the photograph – which they can frame afterwards. This means it doesn’t end up as a guest book collecting dust on a shelf.

They have also used the images for their order of service.

Designed to be as unique as you, my engagements sessions are individually developed to match the individual couples’ style. Whether it’s a fun-loving session in your favourite park, or a stroll through a meaningful neighbourhood or simply a beautiful backdrop to set the scene, your session will help your personality shine through!

5. For some quality time together

Why not treat your engagement photography session as date and a chance to spend some quality time together. You could couple it up as a chance to sample some food at your venue, maybe have a picnic or a romantic walk? Plus, you will have some treasured memories in the form of photographs from your day together.
