  • It's all very well looking through a photographer's portfolio, but have you really got to know the person behind the camera, what they really stand for and how they work? 🚧

I hear of so many couples not taking the time to research the photographer they are booking and - the thing that really stops them getting what they want for their day - not speaking to them to find out who they are first and making sure you feel comfortable with the fact that they will be following you around all day at a wedding.

Will you deliver on time? ⌚
Will you keep us updated? 📅
Will you provide you with a full gallery of images? 🖼️
Will you go that extra mile? 🪜

I'm happy to answer all those questions (and much more!). Simply book a FREE no-obligation call with me using the link in my profile ⤴️
  • AWARENESS POST! 🛎

If you are going to surprise your guests - or each other - make sure to let your photographer know!

If you are booking a photographer and organising a secret something special for your guests or if you are planning to surprise your new husband or wife at the ceremony, then don't forget to inform the person who is going to capture it all. Let them know what, when and where - so that they can be in the right place at the right time.

You could plan all of this and then not have any record of it. Which would be a huge shame!

Just think of all those fantastic memories captured in a photograph and being transported back to that moment when you continue to look at them across the years. 🕰

Sammi arranged a surprise for Tom on their wedding day by getting up to sing, as well as organising a dance routine with her bridesmaids. It means they have some fantastic photos in their wedding album of this very moment 💝

Would you like me to capture your day, surprises and all? Simply book a chat with me via the link in my profile ⤴️

  • JUST PICK UP THE PHONE! ☎️📞

Social media seems to have taken over our lines of communication so, this week, I have spent more time on the phone - and I have learned to love it again. 💞

Actually SPEAKING to people meant that I was able to have a PROPER discussion. Something I hadn’t realised I had missing – until I did! 🗣

I was able to explain my business to people, I had a conversation with the wedding coordinators at venues and I had a lovely chat with one of my brides as well as a videographer who was interested in branching out into weddings. 📞

We are all human beings with a need to communicate and with the instinct to talk. Having conversations teaches us many things that social media or the written word can’t. It teaches us to think fast, to control our reactions, and to interact with others. Talking also helps us get to know each other as well as ourselves better. ☎️

When you type a message, you can’t hear the subtle differences that come with vocal inflections and sometimes the tone says so much more than the words themselves.👂

But the biggest thing I learned? I love the art of conversation.

Do you fancy a chat with me? There is a link in my profile where you can book a call - either on the phone or on Zoom.
  • WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHAT 'GET'S MY GOAT' WHEN I AM PHOTOGRAPHING A WEDDING?!' 🐐🐐

It takes A LOT to upset me but I thought I would share one thing that really does irritate me when I am photographing a wedding – and that is lack of planning or organising on the day.

I have been at some weddings where, because there is no one there calling the shots, I have seen the bride and groom flailing. They then come and ask my advice and so I step in to help out with what happens next or what follows a particular event.

There are a few reasons why I am happy to help out here:
➡️Because otherwise nothing would run to time, and I would be there for longer than I am booked for
➡️I would not get the shots I know the couple would love and want in their gallery
➡️It means the Bride and Groom are not actually relaxing and enjoying their day. Instead, they are running it for everyone else to appreciate!

However, stepping in to organise it isn’t actually my job and it means that I am doing extra work which I am not getting paid for! Plus, it means it takes away what I am trying to focus on (pun very much intended!).

There are some fantastic independent planners out there such as:
@amandalouiseweddingsandevents (pictured sorting out the confetti line at Shakira and Mike's wedding last year!)
@spotoneventuk
@weddingsbymary
@busybridesweddingplanners
@theweddingguru_oskar
@elizabethgraceweddingplanning @mowedding_events

– as well as many venues having their own in-house team such as

@crowcombecourt
@dtcadburyhouse
@haselburymill
and @hopefarmdorset

So, I totally recommend it!

How do you feel about having a wedding planner or coordinator? Or would you prefer to do it yourself?

For some great tips on how to enjoy planning your wedding, nip over to my website and take a look at my latest blog post (link in my profile).

JUST PICK UP THE PHONE! ☎️📞

Social media seems to have taken over our lines of communication so, this week, I have spent more time on the phone - and I have learned to love it again. 💞
